Dr Memish was a guest speaker at the first 'Health at Hajj & Umra' conference organised by the MCB, the Health Protection Agency and Queen Mary, University of London, held in London on Thursday in November 2006 at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He has subsequently been closely involved in the initiatives led by Dr Shuja Shafi of the MCB's Central Working Committee. This collaboration has led to a number of joint publications on health issues relating to hajj and umra.
Dr Memish takes up his appointment as Assistant Deputy Minister of Health on 4th July 2009. Dr Shafi noted, "This appointment is a fitting tribute to Dr Memish's many years of dedicated work to the cause of public health. We have been privileged to have worked with Dr Memish and his team over the years that led to the formation of the Health at Hajj and Umrah (HAHU) Research Group, now an internationally recognised 'brand name' for hajj-associated research".
