The chant of “Labbaik, Allahumma Labbaik†summarises the spirit of sacrifice that lies at the heart of this divinely ordained ritual, which if successfully undertaken serves as a source of purification for sins committed and spiritual rebirth. Each year more than 9 million religious visas are issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj.
Visits to the sacred sites involve physical exertion, exposure to extreme heat and potential for contracting infection. Good preparation for this essential pillar of Islam requires mental and physical fitness before, during and after pilgrimage.
