INTERN/VOLUNTEER - European Network on Religion and Belief (ENORB) and All Faiths and None (AFAN)

Are you preparing for a career in European or UK advocacy, NGO or government- focused work? Come and join a small London-based team.

ENORB, the European Network on Religion and Belief (www.enorb.eu ) includes the main European Faiths along with humanists and pagans, and works with Government, the EU, NGOs and faith/belief communities across UK and Europe.
AFAN is a similar educational programme for young people.(www.afan.uk.net )

TIMESCALE
AFAN works during the school/college year. Funding is in place to support an appointment on a semi-voluntary basis until March 2013. Further funding is expected to cover April-July. The post could be full or near-full-time.

CONDITIONS
The work will suit a (probably) London-based graduate with experience of Inter-Faith engagement, and interest in education, community work and dialogue. Candidates should be prepared to work flexibly and be willing to travel when necessary to locations in London or further afield. However the position is open to all, please apply if you feel the position is suitable for you whatever your qualifications.

Travel to work and expenses of normally £10 per day will be paid to cover subsistence etc. AFAN shares office space in both Waterloo & Southall and you will be based largely in Waterloo sharing office space with ENORB and LBFN (London Boroughs Faith Network). Meetings are held throughout and around London, with occasional trips in UK or to Brussels.

Nature of Work
AFAN duties will be primarily to support the administration, planning and marketing of the AFAN programme by the manager of the college/schools training programme, Navleen Kaur. AFAN is also the UK base of ENORB.

ENORB, the European Network on Religion and Belief, is based in Brussels and therefore some administrative and network support will be required to Alan Murray, chair of ENORB. LBFN (London Boroughs Faith Network) will also require some support when projects, seminars etc are being planned.

Some face to face and telephone contact will be required, including follow up phone calls and emails to colleges, schools, government and European Commission offices, partner organisations, press and media - plus attendance at meetings including taking notes.

For a candidate who displays an interest and aptitude, there may be other possibilities, for example: input into seminars, student workshops etc; working/developing policy documents or educational materials; Assistance with drafting – short texts, press releases etc.

Training will be provided where necessary.
