| The Bloodshed Must Stop Thu 23 Sep 2004 |

We unequivocally condemn the recent brutal murder of the two US hostages and the threat of death hanging over the British hostage, Mr Ken Bigley. The taking of civilian hostages and of innocent life has no place in Islam and is against the norms of any civilised society. As God reminds us:
'Anyone who kills a soul without just cause, it is as if they had killed all of humanity' (Holy Qur'an 5:32)
We join with peace loving people everywhere in expressing our heartfelt sympathy to Mr Bigley's family at this most difficult time and we pray for his swift and safe release.
