Fri 08 Oct 2004
`I commend the work of the Muslim Council of Britain in developing the Books for Schools project... The Books for Schools project will help to provide good resources and enable teaching to be planned and managed within curriculum time to enable broad understanding.'
Mick Waters, Chief Educational Officer, Manchester City Council
Does your school need resources to help deliver creative, engaging, cross-curricular lessons on Islam? If so a Books for Schools resource pack may be exactly what you are looking for. Designed with ease of use by both teachers and pupils in mind, this is undoubtedly the most creative set of resources to aid the teaching of Islam on the market.

'Effective RE teaching and learning plays a positive role in a child's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Books for Schools provides resources on Islam to deliver this part of the curriculum effectively.'
Iqbal Sacranie OBE, MCB Secretary General

Books for Schools is an educational initiative that aims to make available high quality Key Stage linked RE resources to better facilitate the teaching of Islam in schools. Developed in response to numerous requests from teachers, our resources will introduce children to the basic beliefs and teachings of Islam and help fill a major void in tailor made resources. By providing children with an authentic understanding of Islam, we hope to promote better harmony and respect amongst Britain's diverse communities.

How can this resource facilitate the teaching of Islam in RE?
  • Our materials have been designed by educationalists and teachers with reference to the RE Non Statutory Framework (QCA).
  • Linking with Key Stages 1 and 2, these aim to enhance children's experience of diversity in all areas of the curriculum through enjoyable, cross-curricular based work.
  • This self-contained resource pack provides teachers with all the materials needed to teach about basic Muslim beliefs, pillars and practices through four original, engaging and interactive class/small group projects.
