Correcting David Harrison's misrepresentation, from Dr M Abdul Bari
The Editor Sunday Telegraph
15th September 2006
Dear Sir,
I was very disappointed to see my interview given to one of your reporters be so misrepresented in your paper last week ('Muslim Leader warns of 2 million British terrorists', Sunday Telegraph, 10 Sept 2006).
I was interviewed on Thursday 7th Sept by your reporter, David Harrison. In the published interview I was quoted as allegedly saying that if the demonisation of British Muslims in the media continues then 'Britain will have to deal with 2 million Muslim terrorists, 700,000 in London.' These were categorically not my words. What I had in fact said to Mr Harrison was that 'sections of the British media should not treat as terrorists all of the two million British Muslims, of whom 700,000 reside in London.'
Yours faithfully,
Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari, , Secretary General, The Muslim Council of Britain
