Warner Brothers film "Matrix Reloaded"
Mr Barry Meyer, Chairman, Warner Brothers 75 Rockefeller Plaza New York, NY 10019
19th December 2002
Dear Mr Meyer,
We have received numerous complaints from concerned British Muslims that the forthcoming Warner Brothers film "Matrix Reloaded" - which is still in production and due for release sometime in 2003 - contains a character called "Allah" played by the actor Stuart Wells.
This information is also contained on the following website: http://us.imdb.com/Title?0234215
You are doubtless aware that "Allah" is the name of God in Islam and it is regarded as blasphemous for anyone to assume this name.
We sincerely hope that - if the above information is accurate - you will take immediate action to ensure that your new film does not cause unnecessary offence to millions of ordinary Muslims. If the above information is inaccurate then please do accept our apologies.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Inayat Bunglawala, Secretary, Media Committee, The Muslim Council of Britain
