Dear Sir,

The Muslim Council of Britain warmly thanks Parmjit Dhanda MP for voting against the government's decision to ally itself with the US in its war against Iraq in parliament last week.

All along, it has been evident that this particular United States Administration was determined to go to war against Iraq regardless of the deliberations at the United Nations or the co-operation provided by Iraq over disarmament.

This unnecessary war will only endanger our soldiers, Iraqi civilians and further destabilise the Middle East - all in the pursuit of US hegemony in the region.
