Time is running out for Shaker Aamer - Sign the e-petition for his return
Tuesday, 19 March 2013

British resident Shaker Aamer is still unlawfully incarcerated in Guantanamo, an innocent victim of the US policies of torture and abuse. The Save Shaker Aamer Campaign is supporting Shaker's family's appeal to everyone to sign the Govenment e-petition 33133. Shaker is reported to have been tortured every day for over eleven years in the harshest of conditions, including years of solitary confinement. He faces no charge or trial. He has been cleared for release for over 6 years and his lawyer, Clive Stafford Smith reports that, although Shaker's spirit is strong, his body is crumbling. For those 166 prisoners still chained up in Guantanamo, isolated and forgotten, the situation is now desparate. Many of them have been on hunger strike for many weeks in despair at their indefinite imprisonment.

You can help to stop this injustice:

There are only a few weeks left to get 100,000 signatures on the e-petition 33133, "Return Shaker Aamer to the UK." launched by Shaker's father-in-law, Saeed Siddiqui.

The deadline date is April 20th.

Spread the word:

We need to reach as many people as possible to add their names, so please share this amongst you friends, families, peers. The petition is open to everyone in the UK. If we reach the target this could result in a debate in Parliament. Public protest at this terrible injustice would be on record. It would help the case for demanding Shaker Aamer's release and return to his British family.

To date, there are over 41,000 names on the e-petition. If all of us signed and encouraged all our friends and colleagues to add their names, we could get the required number. The Government could not ignore it.  Please help end the torture and abuse endured every day by Shaker Aamer.
