`Books for Schools' Launch in Solihull
Wed 28 Jan 2009
This is a good example of partnership working with Local and National Faith communities and building Community Cohesion.
The Local Authority, Solihull SACRE, Solihull Building Bridges Project and the Muslim Council of Britain in partnership are launching `Books for Schools' project 30th January 2009 in Solihull.

The `Books for Schools' project aims to provide mainstream schools with high-quality Islamic resources (including books, custom made teacher notes, pupil activities, worksheets, CD, DVD and accompanying teaching aids) in order to promote harmony and respect amongst Britain's diverse communities.

These resources are designed to facilitate the teaching of Islam within the Schools Curriculum as outlined by QCA guidelines. The resource box contains Muslim artefacts as well as books, lesson ideas, music and videos. These will support the delivery of Islam which is subscribed in the agreed syllabus for RE and in the RE handbooks.

This is a good example of partnership working with Local and National Faith communities and building Community Cohesion. Representatives from the Muslim Council of Britain, local Muslim leaders, SACRE, LA Officers and primary school teachers/headteachers will be attending this launch.

This is an important opportunity for the Local Authority, schools and the Muslim Community to show their commitment to good, professional educational aims in often difficult political times.
