The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2013
as the United Nations International Year of Water Corporation. The objective of
this International Year is to raise awareness, both on the potential for
increased cooperation, and on the challenges facing water management in light
of the increase in demand for water access, allocation and services.
In celebration of this, The Alliance of Religions
and Conservation (ARC) supported by the Royal National Lifeboat Institute
(RNLI) and Global One 2015, are hosting a unique seminar on Water, Faith and
Survival at East London Mosque on 4th December 2013.
The seminar will be on the topic of “Water,
Faith and Survival”. It will explore the various initiatives being
undertaken globally by faith communities to raise awareness about water
education, environment and water management. It will highlight dangers of being
around water and the ways in which stakeholders such as the RNLI are
undertaking work in the developing world to save lives. The seminar will also
mark the launch of an important 20 minute documentary on ‘Water and Bangladesh’
by Global One 2015 which has been commissioned by ARC.
This seminar will be of interest to NGOs,
development and water experts, UN bodies, embassies, women’s organisations,
community representatives and faith leaders.
