Education Show, Did You Go?
"It is only through understanding that this country can move forward as a true multi-faith and multicultural society. We must ensure children grow up with a better understanding of their friends and neighbours. The Muslim Council of Britain's initiative, Books for Schools, brings us much closer towards that goal. I am delighted to have the opportunity to lend my support to this project." Rt Hon Charles Clarke MP, the former Secretary of State for Education
It was a wonderful experience for MCB's `Books for Schools' project team to attend this year's Education Show. The show started on the 17th March and closed doors on 19th March 2005 at the famous National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. This was the first time that MCB participated in the Education Show.

The Education Show attracted purchasers from every level of the curriculum and was the perfect setting for bringing the Books for Schools Resource Pack to the attention of teachers, Head teachers, Local Education Authority officers and key members of the educational press from all over the UK.

"The Archbishop of Birmingham, the Most Reverend Vincent Nichols, visited the Education Show and met the MCB team at their stall. Archbishop Nichols was delighted to see the resource packs, specially the poster, which contains all the names of prophets, mentioned in Qur'an and urged that all the faiths should work closely for the betterment of society".

Other comments received by the MCB in support of "Books for Schools":

Colin Manning, Head Teacher, North Reddish Junior School, Stockport:

"The future will be in the hands of the young people who are in our schools today. The better they understand each other the more secure that future will be. The Books for Schools project can make a significant contribution to that understanding."
