14 November – The Importance of Faith in a ‘Secular’ Society
November 14 | 7:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
Wednesday 14 November 2018, 7.00-9.00pm, Al-Manaar, 244 Acklam Road London W10 5YG
In the spirit of #InterfaithWeek, the Muslim Council of Britain is delighted to host a panel discussion on the importance of faith, faith communities and organisations in a growing secular society.
Discussions surrounding faith in the UK show that there is much confusion over the current status of Britain and its relationship with faith. Whilst many would argue that Britain has become more secular, it is also clear that faith communities and organisations are more involved than before in social projects, helping some of the most vulnerable people within society.
Join us for an interesting discussion which will not only discuss whether Britain is a ‘secular’ nation, but also to explore the various ways the Christian, Muslim and Jewish community are working independently and together in playing a pivotal role in shaping society.
We’re very pleased that the following speakers will be joining us for the discussion:
- Laura Marks, Founder of Mitzvah Day
- Iqbal Nasim, CEO of National Zakat Foundation
- Shaykh Shafiur Rahman, Al-Salam Institute
- Simon Perfect, Researcher and Teaching Fellow at SOAS University of London and Theos Think Tank
The event will take place in West London.
