Following on from extensive anecdotal evidence of COVID-19 disproportionately impacting BAME communities, Public Health England announced it would be conducting a review into this, and also looking at how other factors such as obesity and gender can affect people’s vulnerability to COVID-19.

The MCB has been carrying out extensive work to support Muslim communities in the wake of the pandemic. As such, and as a result of its role as the UK’s largest representative body of Muslim organisations, the MCB was invited by Public Health England to submit evidence on this issue and share its unique insight into Muslim communities and how they are impacted.
