Politicians are outraged at Muslims praying in Trafalgar Square at an iftar gathering. The Conservatives, Reform and Islamophobes are calling it an act of “domination”.
Despite Trafalgar Square having publicly hosted for many years other religious observance events such as the Passion on Easter, Chanukah, Diwali and Vaisakhi.
So why the double standards?
Dr Wajid Akhter, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, said “Islamophobia is not about domination, its about distraction. Distraction by politicians with no answers for the economy, NHS or housing. They are using hatred of Muslims to turn us into Trump’s America or Putin’s Russia. Enough is enough. They must be held to account.”
