I firmly believe that leadership must be rooted in service over status, unity over ego, and principle over personality. The future of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) requires stability, professionalism, unity, and principled leadership. It is with humility and a deep sense of responsibility that I once again seek your du’a and support for the position of Deputy Secretary-General of the MCB.
I have been involved with the MCB since its establishment in 1997, serving in several voluntary and leadership roles, including National Council member, Chair of the Education Affairs Committee, Assistant Secretary-General, and, most recently, Deputy Secretary-General. Over the last term, I have worked closely with the Secretary-General, office bearers, affiliates, and National Council members to help ensure that the MCB continued to operate professionally and cohesively.
I am the CEO of www.inspireamillion.com I work as an independent (International) social worker and leadership consultant. Professionally, I have over 17 years of experience in leadership positions in local government and the third sector. I have won the Outstanding Award as a team leader in local government and in community work. I have also won the Community Leadership Award. I have been a member of the ‘BEST’ Steering Committee in the Central Government (UK).
I have supported collective decision-making, constructive governance, fundraising efforts, and operational continuity during periods of political and media pressure. I have also represented the MCB at political, civic, educational, interfaith, and national platforms, helping ensure that the organisation remains respected, balanced, and strategically engaged.
The challenges facing Muslims in Britain continue to intensify. Rising Islamophobia, negative public narratives, international humanitarian crises, and growing pressures on Muslim families require mature and strategic leadership. Through public speaking, broadcasting, educational work, and community engagement, I have sought to contribute positively to the representation of British Muslims while building constructive relationships across wider society.
Our young people need guidance, confidence, and opportunities to serve society. Youth development remains a key priority. I have remained committed to mentoring and empowering future Muslim leaders, including supporting the MCB Visionaries programme.
Through leadership roles in local government, social care, consultancy, and the family courts, I have developed a deep understanding of the challenges facing both Muslim communities and wider British society.
I remain committed to ensuring that affiliates remain central to the MCB’s work. The strength of the organisation lies in its grassroots foundations and the diversity of its affiliates across Britain. Going forward, I hope to strengthen regional engagement, improve communication, and support greater collaboration between affiliates and national structures.
We need unity of purpose, strength of character, and clarity of vision. We need an MCB that listens, leads, and delivers — rooted in faith, trusted by our communities, and respected in wider society. Together, we can build an MCB that defends our rights, strengthens our diverse communities, and inspires the next generation to lead with faith, confidence, and courage, working for the common good.
