The Muslim Council of Britain has written to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullally, to express our gratitude for her recent visit to Palestine and the occupied West Bank, and for the compassion, courage and moral leadership she has demonstrated by standing alongside Palestinians of all faiths and all those who continue to endure unimaginable suffering.
As a faith leader she was brave to speak publicly about the realities faced by those living under occupation reaffirming the dignity, freedom and humanity every Palestinian deserves. It is sad and not surprising to see that some have chosen to misrepresent her moral clarity by smearing her words and actions.
At a time when so many seek to silence or intimidate those who raise concerns about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, her moral courage offers hope that people of faith can still bear faithful witness to justice, peace and human dignity.
