People who propagate hate speech and division should not be given free entry to the United Kingdom. After writing to the Home Secretary, speaking to press and coordinated action by multiple organisations and MPs, Ms Gomez has had her visa rescinded.

This decision is the right course of action by the UK government and it should be a precedent for others who choose to promote disinformation and hatred.

A spokesperson for the Muslim Council of Britain said, “Tommy Robinson and his fellow organisers are dangerous to the national interests of this nation. Stoking hatred of all immigrants and Muslims makes us divided and weaker. That is the last thing we need whilst facing challenges to the economy, the NHS and internationally.”

This decision shows the importance of having a unified voice as a community when advocating to government and civil society.
