Secretary General, Dr Wajid Akhter said: “With news of the Prime Minister’s resignation, this must be a moment for renewal. Over the past 20 years, many communities up and down the country have been left behind. A change in leadership cannot mean a change in face alone; it must mean a meaningful change of direction, one where ordinary people are front and centre of policy decisions at a time of rising cost of living, NHS pressures and growing division between communities.

This is also a moment for the incoming Prime Minister to reset the relationship with British Muslims, built on trust and genuine engagement rather than exclusion. Britain’s strength comes from its communities, and it’s past time our government recognised that and acted on it.”
