The Muslim Council of Britain strongly condemns the criminal attacks which took place on Tuesday 7th March 2006 in the Hindu pilgrimage city of Varanasi. The MCB offers its condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims of the atrocities. “The indiscriminate murder of innocents has never advanced the religious, political or economic interests of any people. Its only consequences are greater suffering and destruction,’ said Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain. The MCB hopes that the Indian authorities will be able to apprehend the criminals responsible for the outrages and that all the concerned parties will do everything in their power to contain this volatile situation and ensure a speedy return to normalcy.
