The Muslim Council of Britain has written to the Foreign Secretary, the Rt Hon Ed Miliband following ITV News’s report yesterday that a British citizen, Dr Anas Altikriti, was allegedly tracked and targeted in an assassination plot run by a mercenary working for the United Arab Emirates, a close ally of the United Kingdom.
A foreign state plotting to murder a British national, on British soil is a national security failure. We call on the Foreign Secretary to ensure a comprehensive, independent and transparent inquiry into this matter urgently.
The first role of a state is to protect its citizens. Many communities of the UK will be demanding answers as to what steps are being taken to ensure that they are safe from the interference of hostile foreign states on British soil.
