Visit My Mosque Campaign 2025
The Muslim Council of Britain is hosting for its 11th year the flagship Visit My Mosque campaign taking place this weekend during 19th – 20th September which invites ordinary members of the public to visit local mosques to learn more about Islam and British Muslims.
Against the rise of misinformation and increasing Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hate, the campaign highlights how vital it is for everyone to find out for themselves what British Muslims believe in, how they live their life with key values and hold meaningful conversations about the Islamic faith. Visitors this year can expect to be welcomed with warmth to tours of mosques, speak to community members openly about the faith and hold conversations on various topics.
This spirit of openness is at the heart of Visit My Mosque, but the 2026 campaign is taking another step forward. Alongside more than 100 participating mosques, 10 flagship mosques are working closely with the Muslim Council of Britain to make their open days more experiential, informative, and helping visitors gain a deeper understanding of British Muslim life. These mosques include:
- Ashton Central Mosque
- Cheadle Mosque
- Leeds Grand Mosque
- Masjid e-Vali Blackburn
- West London Islamic Centre
- London Islamic Cultural Society
- Muslim Culture and Welfare Association
- Grimsby Central Mosque
- East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre
- Inverness Mosque
- Jamia Masjid Slough

Mosques around the country will be having tea, cultural food, talks, multi-faith activities and art exhibitions as well as workshop discussions with local community members. This year’s partnership with Heritage Open Days adds another dimension by placing participating mosques within the wider story of Britain’s cultural heritage and recognising that British Muslims are in fact part of the fabric of British life.
Speaking about the campaign, Dr Wajid Akhter, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain says: “In the current climate, far too many people are getting their information about British Muslims and their neighbours from an algorithm and foreign funded billionaires fuelling toxic hate towards faith communities both online and on our streets in Britain. To truly understand who ordinary British Muslims are, what we value and what 6% of the population live like – it has to be experienced, in person, over a cup of tea, tasty samosas and an honest conversation.
Every year, thousands of people walk into a mosque for the first time and walk out replacing their misplaced assumptions about Muslims with lasting friendships and a real understanding of who British Muslims are and what they stand for. It is a religion that promotes kindness, generosity and tolerance. This weekend, over 100 mosques will open their doors for you to join them. Please visit and speak to ordinary British Muslims by searching for a local mosque near you and hear the real narrative rather than the one you read online.”
