The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) is reviewing its Constitution in an open consultation exercise between March and July 2022.
We are taking views and opinions on how the MCB can be more representative and more democratic, helping us to serve all of Britain’s Muslim communities. Read on below to find out more and how to get involved!

When the MCB was founded in 1997, a Constitution was adopted after 18-months of consultation across hundreds of community organisations.
Since then, the MCB periodically undertakes a critical review of its Constitution in order to take stock of how British Muslim communities are changing and identify improvements to the MCB’s governance structure.
The last major constitutional review took place in 2012.
Between March and July 2022, an inclusive, open and forward-looking consultation exercise is being undertaken.
The purpose is to ensure the MCB’s governance structures are fit for purpose and reflects the expectations of affiliates and wider British Muslim communities.
Proposed amendments to the Constitution are planned to be put forward to affiliates in August, ahead of a planned Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) in September.
You can get involved by emailing your views, joining an online Zoom consultation session or attending in-person meetings to be scheduled in May/June 2022.
Anyone is welcome to join and share their views, whether you are part of an MCB affiliate organisation or not.
